Woodhouse Moor toilets to reopen!

In March 2021, we underwent a campaign to try and get the toilets located in Woodhouse Moor (Hyde Park) reopened. This meant creating a petition to the council, which we created:

SEE THE PETITION

After managing to obtain over 1000, signature and speaking to the Council Woman about the matter, we are really proud to say these toilets will no be reopened in a new an improved form!

Currently there now plans to give the toilets a proper refurb - part of these plans include an effort to make these toilets safer. This would revolve around moving the entrance of the toilets to actually look onto the park instead of the car park, we think this would have a big impact.

This is a huge win! And apparently our petition was a HUGE help in giving Counsellor Brooks the back up she needed from the community to get this over the line! So a MASSIVE thank you to every single person that signed and shared.

In terms of next steps, this is obviously a full refurb which will require time, so we could be realistically looking at next year for brand new toilets. In the interim, there has been plans to put Portaloo’s in the park, however there is funding needed for this and we are hoping this will come from the universities. We are hoping to help put pressure on the Unis to release this funding, so keep an eye out for how you can help on that front 👀

Big up to our little community for stepping up for this, clearly we can make a difference!!! And a huge shout out to Counsellor Kayleigh Brooks for listening and pushing this through. Great effort from all involved!!
